Global Equity Index Management
Markit Index Management
The Markit Index Management Service collates and provides official data on any commercially available equity index or ETF in one single feed and format. Sourced directly from the index providers and exchanges, the data is checked and validated ahead of market open.
Users are notified of constituent changes and alerts on their coverage as soon as the information is released.
A single source for all Equity Indices and ETFs
Rather than mapping to hundreds of separate feeds and calculation methodologies in different formats and time zones, Markit Index Management brings together over 300,000 global indices and ETFs in one single XML feed.
The global coverage includes families such as MSCI, FTSE, S&P and Russell as well as local providers and exchanges. Sector classification benchmarks including TOPIX, GICS and ICB are also available (subject to license) giving the capability for the most comprehensive code and sector cross referencing.
Validation
Every index or ETF within the Markit feed is subject to rigorous checks and validation processes both at the index and the constituent level. Timely corporate actions are validated and changes flagged within the feed.
Where the data is delayed or incorrectly published by the index providers, clients are notified to highlight any issues whilst the Markit Index Management team works with the providers for the quickest resolution possible.
Timeliness & Flexibility
This Markit XML feed is easy to integrate and automate into internal systems and third party platforms via the Markit Alliance Program.
Once implemented, any extra indices will be delivering in minutes with no need for further development resources. The Markit Equities support team is available 24/7 via e-mail or phone (London/ New York and Singapore) for any questions and queries regarding the calculation methodologies, corporate actions and adjustments.
Dividend Index Point (DIPs)
Combined with the Markit Dividends service, Markit DIPs calculates accurate current and forecast (2 years ahead) dividend index points on any sector or index, taking into account special treatment of dividends by index providers.
T+ Pro-format Index (Future Index Composition)
Where officially announced, through the T+ service, clients are able to see the future composition of an index based on upcoming announced changes ahead of effective date.
