Senior Java/DB Developer

The Role

Markit Group Limited is looking for experienced technologists to become members of its North America development team based in White Plains, NY. Responsibilities include analysis of business requirements and specifications, coding, testing, debugging, and writing documentation in an agile development environment.

The Cash Loans business is a key business to the Markit community. Loans are one of two products that are the flagship products of the Markit Credit business. As a provider of key market financials, Markit must provide up to date information on not only the Credit Derivatives that have been increasing sort after in the current financial climate, but also to provide financial data on the underlying assets upon which those instruments are based. As a developer in the Cash Loans business you will be working hand-in-hand with the product managers to drive the next generation of this business and the businesses that are derived from it.

The Person

The successful candidate must be able to combine:

    • 7+ years Java/J2EE experience – Experience dealing with real-time, high volume production systems is essential.
    • 5+ years experience working with Oracle/SQL or comparable RDBMS with skills to create and maintain stored procedures, manage database objects and perform data optimization tasks as necessary. Experience in handling large data volumes is essential.
    • Experience tuning Oracle based applications, hibernate a significant plus.
    • Experience in a Unix environment.
    • Strong team player able to work on simultaneous projects using diverse technologies.
    • Must have complete SDLC exposure and experience with several large-scale projects from inception to completion.
    • Financial Industry professional experience required.
    • Must be intimately familiar with Object Oriented Design and implementation.
    • Excellent communicator.
