Head of Equities Technology - London Financial Markets

A high profile opportunity exists for a Head of Equities Technology to join Markit Group to lead the development and strategic technology direction of Markit’s efforts in the Equities space.

Markit is a very fast growing Financial Information Company, with offices in London, Amsterdam, New York, Toronto, Chicago and Singapore. Markit provides transaction critical data, pricing, valuations, trade processing and information distribution to investment banks, hedge funds, asset managers, exchanges, risk managers and market data vendors.

Markit has a diverse and rapidly growing suite of products and services. The Equities product line is an area of particularly strong growth and with the advent of BOAT joining the product line, demonstrates even greater potential.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing current development teams and projects along with recruiting new teams for future products. Working with senior management and executives on setting Equities product strategy and priorities. Setting the pace for new product deliverables and strategic direction for the Equities business.

This individual will report to the CIO and work directly for the Equities business unit on a dedicated basis.

Candidate must have the necessary leadership, communication and relationship skills to interface with developers and to influence senior executives and product heads and demonstrate a proven track record of success in complex Equities trading applications to tight deadlines within a commercial organisation-ideally within Financial Markets.

Qualifications

Expert knowledge of the FIX protocol and the Equities markets
10 years experience in the software development process and best practices
Development team leadership history and skills
Demonstrate a history of building working relationships while managing deliverables and projects among diverse teams
Proven project delivery and execution
Have excellent interaction skills, and strive to offer a first class service, whilst understanding focusing on the current issues alongside the ‘bigger picture’
