Business Analyst

Markit Group Limited (“Markit”), the leading provider of independent data, portfolio valuations and OTC derivatives trade processing to the global financial markets, seeks an experienced business analyst to join its product definition and design team.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated skills in business analysis, writing requirement specifications, testing and communication.  The role is focused more on technical rather than business analysis, a strong technical background is essential.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Identify options for potential solutions, including assessment of technical and business suitability
• Use industry expertise to help define best-fit solutions
• Produce detailed business and functional requirement specifications from existing systems, previous drafts, and SME interviews
• Conduct gap analysis
• Ensure consistency of specifications across sub-systems. Look and feel / corporate branding very important
• Provide input into user interface layouts and create mock-ups
• Utilise analytical tools to develop workflow, cross functional and process flow diagrams
• Assist with acceptance test planning
• Write and revise client education and support materials (e.g. user guides, quick reference guides, FAQs, training materials, online help, etc.)
• Liaise with internal and/or external clients to provide expertise and input where necessary
• Good client facing skills and the ability to work/communicate with clients to develop and interpret business requirements is essential

Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Prior experience as a business analyst
• Thorough understanding of the software development life cycle
• Strong interviewing skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Analytical and well organized
• Careful attention to detail
• Proven ability to work independently
• Expertise in MS Word, Excel, Visio,  Project, PowerPoint
• Experience of requirements modelling tools essential
• Able to work competently on his/her own or within a team, taking a project through complete lifecycle
• Past experience within the financial sector is desirable
• Strong problem solving skills
• Flexibility and attitude to achieve tight deadlines
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to manage stakeholder relationships
• Strong team player who is comfortable working at all levels of the business and external stakeholders as required
• Travel to other Markit offices may be required
